Please suggest me a good home pc for Java Serverside applications

Hi all !
I'm going to garbage my old my and buy a new one
for studying deeply Weblogic server.
Can you suggest me an affordable pc configuration
(around 1000-1500$) where I can run Weblogic & Workshop
without pain ? For example I can see that Workshop
uses the Processor in a very intensive way.....
what processor is better for my situation: Intel Pentiun IV,
or Centrino ?

Francesco, I'd not recommend a Centrino for a fixed base system. They're designed for low power consumption rather than high performance.

Go for a PIV and add heaps of RAM (I'd go for more RAM instead of a faster CPU if you have to choose), at least 1GB but 1.5 or even more is preferred.

Videocard is less important but you want a decent one to run your OS in high enough resolution to be able to actually do something on your screen with several windows open.

And of course a large harddisk.

I don't personally think Apples are a good choice is you're on a budget.
While they look good and perform well you're paying a lot of money for those good looks and that Apple logo (even more than for say an IBM logo).
If you do want something that's not a PC a SPARCstation would be more appropriate.

Actually I have already heard advices to prefer Intel PIV instead of Centrino for performance reason. So this confirms it.
Talking about memory, some time ago I read about DDR2 which should have greater clock frequency and available bandwidth.
Anybody has experienced them ?
