I use JAR files in web pages for client use and recently I've run into an issue with XP/ IE-SP2 upgrades affecting how the JAR files are handled when a user clicks the link. My clients are IE users and run JAR files when they access links on a web-page. If they have XP-SP2 they do not run.
Recently I installed XP-SP2 myself to see what the problem is. No problems loading SP2 except that when I try and run JAR files in IE from the link on a webpage, IE opens them as ZIP files. So instead of running the code in the JAR, it just opens the file in a folder window. When I use Mozilla or Opera, everything functions normally and the program runs.
I do not have the MS-JVM installed, I am running JDK/JRE 1.4 and verified the plugins are setup correctly. I've looked over the settings in IE and XP and scoured the Internet for info. I can't find any mention of this issue, yet...
I’ve looked at a lot of different solutions, and in my humble opinion Aspose is the way to go. Here’s the link: http://aspose.com
