I have a laptop - Single harddisk and two partitions. It has Windows XP installed on it.

I'm planning to remove Windows XP and make it a dual boot machine with Windows 2000 & SUSE Linux 10.

Should I need to format the harddisk and install XP or it will be automatically taken care when I boot with Windows 2000 CD?

If I need to format the harddisk
-Should I use the bootdisk prepared from Windows XP or should I use the once which was prepared from W2K?

I heard that Linux cannot write into NTFS partitions. What is the best way to install Linux
-Should I format the entire harddisk as FAT32?
-Or is it okay if I have 3 partitions, one for Windows 2000 (in NTFS), one for Linux and one more partition with FAT32, which can be shared by both Linux & Windows?

The best and simplest way to do it:
1. reformat your harddrive.
2. boot with your WinXP install CD.
3. install it.
4. After WinXP installed than start with installing Linux.
5. Boot with Linux DVD/CD
6. Resize your Windows partition
7. Make partitions (normally you need 2 (swap and root))
8. Follow the instruction carefully
9. Linux installed
10. Finish!
