Hello and a happy new year to you all.
I am bidding for the intranet design for a fairly large company, 400 employees, 7 branches. I just wanted to know what kind of problems you feel an intranet should solve and if there are any innovations you would add to this kind of software. Also, all the web 2.0 noise being made, any uses of this?
Thanks.

This question has nothing to do with Programming Diversions. Will get someone to move to correct place.

400 is not fairly large when it comes to intranet dependability(with all the latest app servers and load balencers being available).

Its a matter of separating different functionalities into separate domains & each domain residing in its own stack will suffice.

If the intranet module(specific like HR) takes care of high volume in certain periods, the design needs to take care of these projections and scale accordingly.
