hi everybody
i was searching the internet for an antivirus program
i searched so many sites and found so many views
i came across an antivirus CA etrust .this antivirus it seems is most advanced antivir program with most advanced heuristics.
a few sites say Mc-afee and norton are best anti-vir wares
some other say bit-defender and f-secure are top antivir programs now
i also came to know that Microsoft released its own antivir(its in beta now)
i came across panda,kasperky,pc-cillin etc.etc. each proclaiming that there were best.
which do you think is best anti-virus
which antivirus do you use

For my private computer I use AVG, this is a free antivirus program, it uses not much resources. I think it is the best for free. Some of my colleagues have removed McAfee and installed AVG on their laptop, because McAfee is using much more resources.

I also use AVG for home use and have been very happy.
I read recently that Microsoft-AV and one other high profile (McAffee?) failed to get certified by an antivirus group - ie they didn't work properly. (sorry, no link)

Personally, I don't use AntiVirus programs at all, I don't like them.
Use FireFox, SpyBot, Ad-Aware and buy the original software CD and you are OK.

Congrats on 2^10 posts.
Can't say I agree with you, but I prefer to err on the side of paranoia

I would recommend you to use a good firewall such as Zone Alarm, plus a good AntiSpyware program such Ad-Aware and AVG as AntiVirus.

This triad would protect you against a lot of treats.

Even better. All of them offer free versions.

Last month a virus got into my pc and it slowly corrupted all my OS files .when i tried to format my PC , it wouldn't allow formatting. nor did it allow emergency virus scan with a bootable cd
But luckily my PC was within warranty period . so i got the hard disk replaced
And right now i am searching for an effective antivir software so as to protect my pc from future viruses( i read in an article from symantec security that it takes less than 1 hour for a PC connected to internet without an antivir software to get infected , )
As for firefox i read that firefox site was brought down by hackers 3 times in past month.(firefox and security? big doubt??)
Anyway i dont think spyware removal tools(ad-aware,spybot) can detect viruses , if they do detect nobody would have used antivirus programs
