Windows Vista or XP

Hi,
I'm about to get a notebook, and I have the choice to get it with Vista, XP, or both on different partitions.
So, I've been looking at eclipse.org, tomcat.apache.org, java.sun.com, and they don't say much about vista support.
Does anyone know if they run ok on it.
What would you do in my place?
Thanks a lot,
Pablo

Mac OS X. Or Linux if you're on a budget.

If you have to choose between Vista and XP then I'd suggest the best of the worst; XP.

I would agree with Gregg. Several sources (eg US department of transport) are refusing to allow their users to upgrade to Vista as their are no imperatives to do so. They further state that there may be real reasons (is their opinion) not to. Add to this the reports about the hardware requirements to use it, and I don't see the point.

Wait for Serviced Pack 2!

Service Pack 1 will only fix the stuff that should have been in the release but didn't make it on time.

So you should wait for Service Pack 2 to get a reasonably stable version with a portion of the problems encountered by real end users fixed.

Otherwise you're really only a beta tester.

It could be worse ....... at least VISTA will have millions of consumers to test it before professionals use it.
