Root Certificate

I applyed SSL on my JBoss, and is running properly, but the certificate that I generated is not "trusted".... I did with the keytool, that come with the JSDK. Somebody know how to do the inherit of my certificate with some trusted certificade? (like VeriSign etc).

and... I have to pay for the root certificate?

I've heard it mentioned that Thawte offers free personal certificates, but haven't tried it, and don't know the details.
