Hi Guys,
I feel that JAAS api is sort of an overkill to java security for web ...anyways.,.
can anyone tell me about what is j_security_check is used for ? is it a part of JAAS?
I think it as a part of container implemenation of servlet spec for form based authentication.
Any comments ?

You're spot on. The servlet specification goes to some length explaining what it is and how it works.

Thanks..after reading specs i am clear that j_security_chekc is not JAAS and it is a container's implementation of the specs.
