Problems in Integrated Windows Authentication

Hi,

I am trying to do single sign on authentication on Windows 2003 server,IE6, tomcat 5.5.I added filter to web.xml file. Please, see the lines.
I am getting pop windows asking for username and password for server machine.If I pass the username and password for server machine.It's accessable.Next, tried to give username and password for local machine it's fails. Please, let me know what is the problem I am getting.Please, guide to resolve this problem.
How exactly windows authentication works.Please, guide to me.
