Hi,
I cleared my JCP yesterday with 93 percent score.Thats 55/59. I am extremely delighted at my score and thankful to javaranch and
java ranchers for all the services being offered on certification.
Here is my recipe for JCP exam :
Books referred
----------------
1) KAM ( Excellent book on certification).
2) Exam Cram by Bill Brogden( has very good sets of practice questions).
Notes referred :
------------------
1) Velu's notes(Good well rounded notes covering most of the important points that one needs to remember)
2) Marcus Green's Notes
3) Jyoti Krishnan's Notes.
All these notes neatly summarise the core concepts that one needs for certification.
Mock exams:
-----------
1) Tried out most of the exams listed on Maha Anna's page.
Mock exams are a sure shot way of measuring one's strengths and weaknesses on various certification topics.
Regarding the exam, the paper is balanced and has questions ranging from very easy to very tough. There was only one 30 line question on threads and that was a real tuffy. Apart from that most of the questions were short (which means not longer
than 15 lines) and approachable . This exam tries to
test your basic knowledge of Java and nothing more.
The only way to master anything is by wetting your feet. There is no subsitute to hands-on-experience, cos u learn a hell lot by making mistakes. And thats the way I approached the exam.
Regular practice and constant reading are the two factors that I attribute to my score.
Well frankly I feel extremely relieved after the exam and am certainly going to party hard this new year. :-)
Wishing you all a very happy new year
Bye
