I took the test a few hours back (found a place that offers seating for exam till 8 PM). Firstly, the customery thanks goes to the this site keepers and to the people who created mock exams. Now, about exam before I start paging out info from memory. Infamous Mr. Green's tests are close to the real test, but I have to say that the test is harder. I have not seen anybody mention that but I got 3-4 questions worded "choose the best answer". First one after a looking for a few seconds becomes clear, just go over Math.* functions and see the signatures. One I had to guess and probably missed - not to be in my shows, please go over io classes constructors. One was just plainly unclear as 4 options seemed correct and choosing the best was very unobjective. There was only a couple "here comes Christmas" questions that looked like presents and it takes only a second or so to see the answer. There was a couple questions made specifically for ex-C++ developers to throw off their game, by using familiar from previous life notations. Threads had around 7 questions. Nothing major, now how to create/start a new thread: Thread::start schedules a thread and run method will be executed. Get a basic understanding of synchronized and keep in mind that if the block of code is not protected - a running thread can be preempted at any time. KNOW YOUR BASICS. Man, do they test you on the basics. I saw everything: primitive ranges, loops, BTW look at nested loops with labels and continur/break. Get a solid feel for overload/override. Remeber the access modifiers order: public-protected-default-private. Some questions from exam were very closely matched with questions from mocks - my theory is that if one just studies all the mocks and works on missed questions, then you can do real well on exam. You will have plent of time - 120 min. to go over all the question with no rush. I decided to do just one sweep and took as much time on one question as needed to make a decision and still had half an hour left. GOOD LUCK

Congratualtions Alex ... I'm going to move this to the Certification Results discussion. Jane [This message has been edited by Jane Griscti (edited January 14, 2001).] [This message has been edited by Jane Griscti (edited January 14, 2001).]
Congratulations, Alex. I want to retake this exam, for me it was also hard although I went through all Marcus and Anna Macha and a lot of others mock exams. Elena

I think you will do well. Mock exam can be a study material in itself. I found them as helpful as any certification books. Plus, as you may knw already that the time has been changed from 1.5 hours to 2 hours, which give one a piece of mind.
