I passed the exam an hour back with 91%. I am thrilled.
As for my preparation-in October last year I did a course in Java from Sun Microsystems. Did a lot of coding for creating GUI's.Then took a 1 month holiday. I initially planned to take the test in December but postponed it to today. I read Bill Brogden's exam prep and attempted the questions at the end of each chapter. I stumbled on to Maha Anna's wonderful site which was a real eye opener for me. I tried some mock exams but scored only around 55%. I ordered JCertify but soon found it was not enough.Less than two weeks ago, I ordered JQPlus and spent all my evenings taking the exams. I started scoring well towards the end-Test7 scored 71%, Test8 scored 78% and Random Test scored 88%(took it yesterday).
I slept well last night and attacked the exam this morning. The test was straight forward but I did get a bit confused with the questions on Layout Manager. I think one should code and see the results of different layout managers and check and learn the resizing behaviour for all of them.
There were no questions on Applets and the questions on the util package were quite simple.

I think I have already explained how I prepared for the exam.
I have around 2 years of programming experience plus some programming courses which I did back in college

Yes there were questions on GridBagLayout pertaining to the resizing behaviour. I suggest you code and see for u'rself how the different layout managers behave specifically when resized. The questions on I/O were straight forward. Learn all the constructors.

There were lots of questions where u had to tell the output of the program, but there no questions like
Double.NEGATIVE_INFINITY*-1
For, the fill in the blanks I used quotes since the result was a string like "abc".
I did around 15-20 mock tests
