Having cleared the SCJP with a score 86% gives me a great sense of satisfaction as well as relief. It was kind of a long journey because I couldn't dedicate entire time for the preparation..so I took some time from my company (about 1 week) for the final kill. I would like to advice all those taking the exam to refer the book Khalid Mughal. I swear by this book and I'm sure once you read it you'll too. I am very thankful to all the guys participating in the forums of javaranch.. Special thanks to Maha Anna who gave tremendous inspiration with her infallible knowledge(reached at www.javaranch.com/maha). I basically started with the basic book Complete reference then went on to RHE got Java Cram 2 weeks before the exam and read Khaled and Mughal in four days. I wish I had more time to read this book. The sections where I got low scores are awt ...50% I didn't read layout in deep that's why the mistake .. something like what if for a FlowLayout I give add(Component, BorderLayout.NORTH) Threads ...71% This section had a tricky question..so read carefully the must's & the may's..don't assume things Oper & Ass...85% Lang Fundamentals...77% IO ...80% Frankly speaking I wasn't sure which score I would land up in but was hoping to get a high score. All questions were kind of new on the tougher side, but by applying what you have read and by the techinique of elimination you can get to the right answers. I solved a lot of mock tests ..but used it more for learning than judging. A good test would be with less mistakes and more of new questions. Sounds kind of cliche but in the end I felt I could have don't better. Let me know if I can give more input for futer SCJP's.
