Hi everybody! Passed the Programmer Certification today with 93%! And it was on my birthday...pretty good birthday present for myself! I studied for 2 weeks FULL TIME and had previously experience from Java only from a Java course I took in January. For my study I used mainly the "Java 2 Certification Study Guide" and "Java 2 Exam Notes" from Sybex. I must say that the style of the questions in the "Java 2 Certification Study Guide" did match the style of the questions in the exam pretty much. I've also done a couple of mock exams on the net (Marcus Green and some other I don't remember the name of or link to). I also used "gEs Java 2.0" from www.mayaconsultancy.com for auto generated mock exams from a finite set of questions. I'm sorry to say that I did not take advantage of the forum here at javaranch.com (I found this site too late in my process of studying) but the page on this site where a lot of mock exams are listed was very valuable information. Tips for soon-to-be-certified-programmers: Make sure you know exactly when and how you can use access modifiers with classes/inner classes/methods/variables. Learn the most used methods of the Math class AND THEIR SIGNATURES. Know your threads and collections (I missed a question on collections... Also, make sure you know which of the listener interfaces DO NOT have any adapter class (I got a question on this topic). If you know your object orientation AND you put 2-3 weeks on studying Java then you should not have any problems with the certification EVEN THOUGH it has a a lot of tricky questions. Peace! .jole
