didn't pass

Just finished the exam, missed passing by three questions. Worst areas were Threads, operators and assignments, and overloading/overriding (all 28%). I also missed my one gc question somehow. Stupid little mistakes cost me certification. I hope to take it again in about a month; that should be enough time to get me over the top.
As the vast majority of posts discuss success (and rightfully so), I just wanted to let everyone know that this is a difficult exam.

Sorry, to hear that Bill. I'm sure you gave it your all, however, most people indicate that it is a very tough test and a lot of people don't pass it on the first attempt. I'm still trying to figure out when I'll be ready to take the plunge myself. Take a break, re-evaluate and brush up on your weak areas and for sure try again.

Hi Bill,
Sorry to hear you failed on your first attempt I'm sure you'll do ok next time; you'll know exactly what to expect and meantime you know where to focus your study efforts.
All the best.

Hi Bill:
Sorry for the 1st attempt
You will suceed when you will be ready. Meanwhile, stay focusing on this site and get a couple of good reference books. I have been preparing for the SJPC for one month and half and still not ready. Time is not an issue. It depends on how comfortable you will be when you think you are ready.
Best luck in your efforts!

Hi Bill,
I too failed the Exam and it is not easy as many have discovered.
Interesting to note that even Marcus Green didn't pass the first time. Don't give up, run some code examples to visualize the tougher concepts. Wish you well :-)

Hi Bill,
Sorry to hear you failed. Thread are hard!! Practice a lot with the mock - especially with language fundamentals, control flow, operators and assignments. Which prep guide are you using? It's probably worth investing in an exam tool like JQ+ or J@Whiz(there's another one but I can't remember the name). And as Percy said write code.
I will be taking the test soon and I'm a bit worried myself.
All the Best!
regards,
Jyotsna
