after 3 months of study, i passed the exam today. i very big accomplishment for me!
study materials:
- prepared using khalid and jq+.
- created literally hundreds of index cards for study
- had taken about every mock exam on the net.
thoughts on the exam:
- much harder than i had imagined.
- io my weak area, 100%, mainly constructors.
- several easy questions on threads.
- received a lot of questions on wrapper classes and a few of the math methods that i thought would never be on the exam.
- thought test was much harder than marcus green's exams.
- had about 6 fill in the blanks
- had about 6 exception type questions
- 0 questions on awt events
- 3 easy questions on awt
only one other guy in testing center with me, he wasn't aware that the exam was computer based, and unfortunately failed. i told him about the great resource that javaranch was to me and told him to keep trying.
thanks everyone, today is a good day!

Congrats, Matthew. About how long did you take the mock exams after finishing your reading?

many thanks. i actually was taking the mock exams while i was reading the materials. i read the entire khalid book once, then started taking the mocks, then took my weak areas and read the chapter that covered my weak area, and this time writing some code to help drive the concept into memory.
hope this helps.
