Hi,
I am using Simon Roberts,Philip Kellar and Michael Earnest book 1999 edition(Am i using older edition??Actually i gave up my plans 2 be scjp then)What is the difference between this and a new edition (if there)
The other two books that i am using are:
Jamie Jaworski-training guide
Patrick Naughton-Complete Reference
(all i bought long back)
I came to know about this website just yesterday!
Am i using the right set of books??
What does RHE stand for, which many scjp say they have used.
(is it roberts books??If yes 1999 edition??)
Thanx a lot for reading this,
Best regards,
leena.

RHE = the authors of "The Complete Java 2 Certification Study Guide: Programmer's and Developers Exams" by Simon Roberts, Philip Heller, Michael Ernest. The latest edition is the 2nd edition September 14, 2000...it is considered one of the best certification books..I have these books: "A Programmer's Guide to Java (tm) Certification" by Khalid Azim Mughal, Rolf Rasmussen
And "Exam Cram" by Bill Brogden.
good luck in your studies

Thanx a lot Mark for replying,
I just hope the latest edition (2nd edition September 14, 2000)
not much different from 1999 edition.
Somebody please guide me on how to prepare for event handling.
It's such a boring topic(except offcourse action events)
I have gone through many posts on which questions to expect.
It is not strictly as per objectives.e.g wrapper classes,io in such details e.g datainput/output stream ,gridBag.
May be nobody will agree with me.
Anyway this is just my second day at this website.I have liked this website a lot.Hopefully i will one day post a message saying i have got certified.
Best regards,
Leena.

Leena,
your message announcing your Certification will definitely be on this forum soon
I did not use it myself, but i heard that Moghul is a very good book for IO...try using it.
About the Event Delegation Model, read the chapter again and again from RHE...you will begin to love it
All the best.

greetings Leena! i have the same books as Marc. Parag's right, Khalid's section on IO was very handy. i managed to finish RHE and Bill's Exam Cram but not Khalid's. i think his book is a bit advanced for the exam but still worth knowing. i tried to finish his book though but i ran out of time. good luck on your exam Leena and welcome to javaranch!!!

Hi leena ... welcome
Have you read through the Certification FAQ and the discussions on Maha's pages? They'll give you some study pointers. Also check out Marcus Green's site.
I'm going to move this post to the Certification Study forum as this forum is really to post your success story
