Do you think running some kinda of survry here is a good idea?
For example.... how many people pass a exam on the first try.
How many people think this exam is a MUST and other are not.
That tell us a lot!! How difficult is a exam.
Which exam is the most popular.
etc etc..

I reckon surveys are annoying/intrusive and I think I gave up enough personal stuff when I signed up for Java Ranch
You can't rely on the quality of the data returned ie people are under no obligation to give an honest answer. The closest you've got is already here. You know the people who register are interested/possessed by Java - and the number of posts per area can give you an idea of what's hot at the moment. Taking these numbers could give you an estimation the growing / declining popularity of various certifications / technologies
All the best - Jim
