thank you everybody guys and gals . day before yesterday i got through and got 50 correct out of 59 . although the score is no great thing , im relieved to know that i actually have passed the exam . atleast the sun guys acknowledge me as a java pro coming to the actual exam , it started off with a volley of questions on streams constructors , threads part was also sizeable . the questions i got wrong were on overriding and threads . i got the feeling that answers to two similar looking questions on overriding were conflicting . that send my study into a spin , otherwise the exam was not ambiguous at all . i still cant beleive ho i managed to get so many wrong . the only thing must be carelessness , which was my undoing in mock exams also . the paper ( although not in physical sense ) was of lower standard than one given in the khalid book . i was expecting some tricky questions , but they were only a small percentage . i took about 6 weeks of preparing on and off for the exam . otherwise 16 days are enough , if you already have done some programming before , and are willing to study at a stretch u may have heard this before , but i scored 83 % in the marcus green exam no 2 the night before . the most helpful tool was Jxam and also i visisted javaranch everyday and used to save important and thought provoking questions and answers . i now feel a part of javaranch family , so guys any queries u feel like asking , go ahead . and dont u forget marcus greens mocks . i did about 6 mocks in two days preceding the exam . before that i did rules round up , Jquest , the useless jqplus trial version , got velmurugan's notes , one test your java knowledge article on absolutejava.com , objective wise Qs at jqplus , maha anna's set of mocks in general and many others so much so that my desktop contained more java articles than any single site just kidding . anyways i hope this certification helps me in my job . i am going to join tata consultancy on monday . if anybody can , then please tell me where can i use my certification in my career , and what should be my next aim .

Thanx Farooq , Tom , Shailesh for your wishes ! Could you also tell me what should be my next step after getting the certification . as i have heard , nowadays people with their skill set based on java are getting laid off . So , should i try to declare my cert with my employer ?

Congratulations Ashish The next step is a personal choice; depends on what you want to do. Don't think you'll get laid off because you have Java skills ... that involves a whole set of variables. See no reason why you would not want to tell your employer you have your SCJP; it shows you are willing to work to upgrade your skill set.
