hi there everyone took the exam today but sorry flunked in it got a 55%, i swear today it was really tougher than the mocks or it was my eyes playing tricks. Anyway i prepared using JQ+ it really helped me a lot , hehe infact i learnt a lot from it and was scoring about 68% avg in random tests , did customized test chapter by chapter but still... Maybe i did not understand the CONCEPTS well, anyway maybe next time
thats it for now
vikram

Sorry to hear about that. At least you're not giving up !!! You'll get it next time, you probably only missed one or two questions more than the limit.
What I would do is look at the results and see which sections you didn't do so well on. Then concentrate on the worst ones. The thing that helped me the most is answering questions here. Find a question that someone has asked and answer it for them. Even if it takes you an hour to do it (it took me that long on a few). Use your reference books, the jls, other peoples notes, but dont use answers to similiar questions here. You'll need to write sample code to make sure that what you're telling them is correct (10 to 20 lines is usually enough). You'll be helping someone else and you'll get a much better grasp of it yourself.
The other thing I did was make notes on what I was reading and on the mock tests I took. Dont just write down what the book says or cut and paste from the mock answers but change the words into your own. If one source doesn't answer a subject fully or your still confused or unsure then read the same section from another source and make more notes from there. When you're done you'll have a complete set of notes that you can understand and that cover the topics you needed.
Then just before you take a mock read your notes - EVERYTIME!!! Each time your notes will get longer because you'll be constantly adding to them after each mock and after each section of book you read. You'll get sick of reading them again and again but it will really help. I must have read mine 20 times in the last couple of weeks before my test.
If you have any questions let me know or if you'd like a copy of my notes I can send them to you (have to be an email though because my ISP went belly up) I'd love to help...

Sorry that you didn't make it Vikram. It's a very difficult test, however, your very, very close. The next time you will clear it with no problems at all. Just hang in there.
Keep your head up,
Donald

They haven't foprmally announced that they are changing it yet. I know they are testing/contemplating making it an adaptive test, but I think the objectives will still be the same if they make that change.

You were near to touch the mark. Well, no probs. You will DEFINITELY do it next time.
Dave is right. I think, it is rare that overwriting happens in our brain and only updation is the key to our living.
All the best to U.

you're so close, vikram, you can do it! some great advice above. what also helped me was, as i was studying some of the more complex class hierarchies (especially io), i drew charts of the superclasses and subclasses and their relationships with interfaces. sometimes a 'visual' makes a rather abstract concept more clear and solid. wishing you much success!

Hi Vikram,
I got 57% last month. I think I missed a couple of questions because I didn't select enough answers. My instructor always says "....people better than you and I have failed this Exam." Wish you well in your pursuit

Don't give up vikram. You are not the first to have failed, and I doubt you'll be the last.
At least now you know what to expect from the exam and you have a road map of your weak areas which can be a definite asset when you're studying.
Sun hasn't officially announced a change in the test format and they've promised they'll give 6 months warning if they do plan a change. Be a shame to wait another 6 months or a year when you are so close!
