Hi, Even though I was not an active participant in JavaRanch discussions, I visited this site very often. It has been very helpful in my preparation. Thank you all. I took the exam today and scored 91%. Declarations and Access Control --- 100% Flow Control & Exceptions --------- 100% GC -------------------------------- 0% Lang Fundamentals ----------------- 100% Opearators & Assignments ---------- 71% Overloading, Overriding etc ------- 100% Threads --------------------------- 71% awt ------------------------------- 100% util ----------------------------- 100% io -------------------------------- 100% Here is my experience. 1. The exam was not tough. I got around 7 questions in threads. Those were the first questions. I could not answer many of them immediately. So, I marked them and proceeded. I came back at the end and tried them again. So, STAY COOL. It helps. 2. There were a lot of questions about Overriding/overloading. 4. I got 3/4 fill in the blank questions. Before going to the exam don't think too much about using quotes or not using them. You will know what to do when you read the question. I did not put quotes when the questions is like "what will be the output/printed". I put quotes in questions like "String s is..". Anyway my point is DON'T think too much about stuff like this. You can figure this out in the exam very easily. 5. I got a lot of questions about I/O. Don't get tensed up if you don't remember all the constructors. Just use your knowledge in other areas to eliminate wrong answers first. Pay attention to abstract classes and in general I/O class hierarchy. Look at the other questions in I/O, they may provide some clues. 6. Make sure that you understand is-a, has-a relationships. Marcus Green's exams address this. 7. Finally, Be thorough with basics. PAY ATTENTION. READ THE QUESTION CAREFULLY. Whatever the questions is, first you need to pay attention to the following things. --Calling non-static members from static methods. --local variables & initialization Thank You, Madhuri

One more thing I wanted to mention, I used Beginning Java 2 by Ivor Horton to learn the language and then KAM for the certification. Both of them are excellent.
