This week's book giveaway is in the OO, Patterns, UML and Refactoring forum. We're giving away four copies of Refactoring for Software Design Smells: Managing Technical Debt and have Girish Suryanarayana, Ganesh Samarthyam & Tushar Sharma on-line! See this thread for details.
Hello, I passed with a 71% yesterday. I think the major areas of the test were language, I/O, and threads. AWT played a lesser role than I thought (thankfully!). I feel good about passing since 3 weeks ago I had never written a Java program program before, although I come from a C++ background. I studied by buying the Boone book, which I felt was the worst edited technical book I've ever seen... tons of mistakes. I did alot of mock exams, and wrote alot of example code myself. I would do the mock exams, and then would write a small program to really learn why I got a particular question wrong. I won't take the scjd exam since I feel there is a real confusion between the programmer and developer certifications, and that most employers wouldn't know the difference between the 2. I am now going to go for the sceja, which is my real goal (since I am an architect by profession). Anyway, good luck to you all in your upcoming exams. Believe me, it feels good to pass, so work hard! Eric.
