This week's book giveaway is in the OCPJP forum. We're giving away four copies of OCA/OCP Java SE 7 Programmer I & II Study Guide and have Kathy Sierra & Bert Bates on-line! See this thread for details.
I made it on the first try with 83%, but I'm getting too old for this. I'll be 55 tomorrow. Does the saloon give senior citizen discounts? I've been teaching Java at Ferris State University for 3 years and have been programming for 36 years. All that hexadecimal work as an IBM Systems Programmer helped a LOT. So did helping countless students debug their code. The practice tests that best predicted my score were the bonus tests in RHE. My last two were 84%. I was 70% on a quick pass through Marcus Green's test. On Valentin's I only had time for about 1/4 of it but scored 81% on the part I tried (bit manipulation is my strong suit). My biggest problem on the REAL test was nerves. I give a lot of tests but haven't taken one for years (make that decades). The screen was small but I tiled the windows to compensate. Also, I nearly choked on the first question (something about instantiating an inner class). Nerves! I marked it, went on to the next question and came back when I settled down. Time was not a factor but always in the back of my mind. I worked more slowly on the REAL test due to paranoia. Thanks to everyone at java ranch and YEEEEHAAAA!
