I have cleared the exam this morning. Got 79% which is not a good score but for the preparation that I had put in, I have no complaints. Some of my observations from the exam ...
It was a little tougher than the JWebPlus tests. There are questions from design patterns outside the four listed in objectives. Emphasis on the web.xml file. I did atleast two questions wrong on the names of the elements... whether it is class or listener-class. Is it param-name and param-value or just name and value.... No logic in these questions but you just have to mug up... There is plenty of time - I finished the test and the survey in one hour.
There are lot of questions on custom tags - the topic needs maximum time during preparation.
There is a typo in the result card - One of the topics is listed as Handling server side expectations ! Manning's book is of great help. In fact I would say it is self sufficient if clearing the exam is the goal. Thanks all the people at Javaranch. This is an invaluable source of inspiration and guidence.
