I tried searching for C# with options "Since 30 days ago", "Search for exact name" checked and I getting "results" starting from December 14, 1998. Since the search is restricted by 2000 posts, I cannot get thru to 2001.
Any suggestions?

No. Just try it by various dates. C# is MS' language

Strange - it looks like there's a significant bug here. Not only does the system fail to limit the search by date as specified, but it also fails to limit the search to posts containing "C#" - I'm guessing it returns all posts in the system. Or maybe the # is treated as a wildcard, and it returns all posts with a word beginning in C. Ugh. Strangely, if you limit the search to a single forum, there search works exactly right, with neither of these problems. That's the best solution I have for you - search each forum, one at a time. Not very good I know - but we're using prepackaged software here, and have limited power to fix any bugs that are discovered.

Nice tracking Vanin! But the search restriction is 200 posts not 2000....i wish it would be 2000!! As i was trying to find Madhav's (satya) famous post "How to install tomcat in 30 minutes" in Servlets forum, but due to 200 barrier the best filtering i could do took me to 1 year back and could not find the post within 1 year.
The search option also has some approx 25 character limitation so i had to search with"How to install tomcat" and "Madhav" as author. Besides we are not getting the chance to find between say April,2000 to April,2001....
Regarding "C#", i think JavaRanch search engine does not like u to search that...

An alternative for you, here is the url:
How to make your first JSP page work on Tomcat?
As far as I know, It still works on tomcat3.2.3, not tested on 4.0 yet. I just got another two thank you notes last week.
It will be update soon to include How to make tomcat work with apache seamlessly. I'm still struggling with making it work on solaris 2.6.

My FAQs was started when Marcus' search engine did not work properly around March, 2000. What a nice side effect!!!
Who dares say that a bad thing never causes a good result?
Thanks a million, Marcus!

This might worth a little explanation:
I was/am answering questions on Marcus' forum for a long period of time.
Once around 03-2000, one visitor asked a question, I felt I'd a good answer for that before, and try to search and gave him/her a link. However, I failed to find it, since Marcus' search engine had a problem. He sent me an entire archive file, I could find nothing. Then I realized how fragile the search system could be. Then decided whenever, I answer a good questions on the internet, keep a copy in my own FAQ.
That was how it started, now I accumulated 8 pages of about 35-40k each SCJP questions and answers, plus 2 advanced FAQ pages. It is referred as a MUST READ by many.
SCJP Questions & Answers by Roseanne Zhang
I wish this is not a too boring story.

If you do a partial or whole search on any general purpose search engine on the internet (google, yahoo, microsoft, etc, etc ...) for my FAQs, you are guarenteed to find it on the top of the result.
Try by yourself!
"Roseanne Zhang", "javachina", "SCJP Questions and Answers"...

G- I ignored your earlier request to close this thread since you also asked Roseanne questions - it would have been hard for her to respond with the thread closed. Now that she has, I'll go ahead and close it. In general though, the e-mail auto-notification is a rather annoying feature which I don't recommend for most people - in part because, as you've seen, you can't turn it off later.
