Wrote the SCJP and passed with 83%, Wrote the SCWCD and passed with 91%. I only studied 2 weeks for the SCWCD and I have to say I didn't write one line of servlet code.
The book SCWCD Exam Study Kit by Hanumant Deshmukh and Jignesh Malavia basically walks you through it. Memorizing that book, the web.xml Deployment Descriptor structure, and a good knowledge of the concepts behind Tags the TLD, and Listeners was all it took. Scope is also a big issue as well as the code equivalents of xml and jsp. Oh and page, taglib and include directives. LoL now I guess im just reading off the topics so I'll stop.
I found the exam a little too easy honestly and am hoping the upgrade will be a bit a tougher. The javaranch site did and excellent job on there practice exam though. I found the questions on the actual exam incredibly similiar. http://www.javaprepare.com also links to some great resources. And http://www.withmilk.com/scwcd.jsp provides some great quick questions. I hope I'm allowed to post other site links here. I didn't buy any online mock exams at all. For these two exams there is such a wealth of info available for free online. Especially thru javaranch.com. You guys seriously rock and I couldn't have done it as cheaply without you.
I think Im gonna try for the Oracle Certified Associate Developer next but am a little unsure where I can get some good introductory stuff online. Free tutorials by topic and stuff. I plan to buy the whizlabs mock exams for it but I prefer to get a foundation first. If anyone knows any good links or books that would be super. But since this is the scwcd forum I'll stop with asking about that. Thanks again javaranch for all the help javaranch.
