HI ppl. I cleared SCJP with 90% 2 days ago. I feel a lot more confident now. I used Sierra&Bates book and I believe that's the only book one needs to clear it. I also spent time with mock exams listed on this site but personally I only enjoyed Dan Chisholm's tests which I believe are a lot more harder than the real thing. On the other hand I don't believe it is a necessity to solve them if you don't aim very high scores, because Dan's tests take you deep into JLS which is not a necessity for passing SCJP. Of course if you are the curious type like me it wouldn't hurt. My only critics concerning Sierra&Bates book maybe the Threads section. Not that its not a good section but I believe a few sophisticated examples on threading added wouldnt hurt in the next edition. But I honestly insist on the fact that if you have Java background for more than a year, you don't need any additional resource to get a good score. I also would like to thank them for their sense of humour which made this book the most enjoyable technical book I ever read. Congratulations for being writers of the best technical book I ever read.
One last question people. What do you think the next step should be in certification if you want to become an architect? do you think I should go straight for a test like SCWCD or SCBOD? OR, I should consider XML or UML tests of IBM?

Congratulations!
I am also curious to know the level of difficulty of IBM's UML/XML exams,
compared to the Sun's certification exams. Can somebody throw some light on
IBM's exams?

Selim -
Congratulations on a great score!
Thanks for your kind words, we're very happy the book helped. We keep all the feedback we get on the book, and when the next edition comes out (which won't be for a while yet), we will incorporate reader's suggestions. You're not the first to indicate that we should make the thread section a little harder! So watch out, the next edition will probably have a few more lame jokes, and the threads section will be trickier.
