Whatever happened to Parrot, anyway?

Check this. And this. I was really excited about the possibilities for this combination of Perl and Python - whatever happened to it? Does anyone know?

It was just as clear on April 1st, actually. In fact I had to google for it, since originally appeared in 2001 and was no longer being prominently displayed at the O'Reilly, Perl or Python sites. But I thought it deserved resurrection for anyone who might have missed it.
Some of those code samples are just hilariously awful, aren't they?

Hi all,
The LINUX Magazine April 2003 issue contains a very nice in-depth article on Parrot, the currently-under-development virtual machine to be used by Perl, Python, Ruby, et al. I kid you not :-)
