Hello All-
This is my first post in the Javaranch forums. I cleared the exam yesterday.
A big thank you to:
Kathy/Bert for coming out with such an excellent study guide.
Dan Chisholm for his incredible mock tests: Dan's mock tests.
Javacertificate: Javacertificate.
Javaranch where I found out about the 2 aforementioned mock sites.
Besides these, I frequently referred to the Java Platform API docs: Java Platform API docs (1.4).
About the exam, it is of the same level as the MasterExam on Kathy's book. I got a score of 92% in the MasterExam and ended up getting almost an exact score in the actual one. If you do all the Self Tests from Kathy's book, go through all the Single Topic questions and as many Comprehensive tests on Dan's site as you can, go through all the questions in the invidual Sections and take the Final test on Javacertificate, you should be in good shape. I would advise a full read of Kathy's chapter(s) before you attempt a corresponding topic in Dan's tests. Dan, you must have been told this a hundred times before, but here I go again - your mock questions and your answers rock! Why don't you come out with a mock site for SCWCD?
About myself, I have had Java/JSP experience for about a year now. I have been thinking about taking this exam for the last one year or so but always kept postponing for a variety of self-concocted reasons. Key to taking the exam is (especally, if you are already familiar with Java) is, buy the exam voucher and set a target date. I prepared an hour everyday for about 2 months and towards the last few days, maybe a little more for completing my mock exams.
Still undecided about my next step wrt certifications. I have half a mind to start preparing for the current version of SCWCD but the fact that we will have a new SCWCD exam sometime later this year causes me to hesitate a little. Any suggestions that would help me make up my mind are more than welcome.
A Happy New Year to all.
Drinks for all my friends

Thank you for your wishes, Thomas. I shall definitely be using your SCWCD web site to the fullest extent. I really liked the look and feel and organization of your SCJP web site.
Also, I would like to mention an invaluable tool that I used to compile/run any java code during my SCJP preparation - BlueJ, a nice and easy to use Java IDE that can be downloaded from BlueJ.

Thank you for your wishes - Bert & Jayant.
Jayant, I am not from B'lore, so cannot help you much there. But do get hold of a copy of Kathy/Bert, which in my eyes, is an absolute must for the exam and lets you focus totally on the exam objectives.
I agree. Here's the link:
