Took the SCJP on Friday 3/8. I do wish I'd done better but am glad it's over! I used the K&B book for 6 weeks or so, reading each chapter twice and then doing the end of chapter questions. I then went on to the 20 Dan Chisholm exams. I spent 7 weeks or so doing them all twice. I then went back to the K&B book and found that my results on the end of chapter questions had slipped from how I was doing on them the first time thru the book. I was probably averaging 88-92% on the K&B questions before I started the Dan Chisholm. When I started the Dan exams, I was getting like, 55%! He definitely takes the material to a next level. But, I found some of the K&B questions more slippery; Perhaps I got too comfortable with the Dan style. I did the Marcus Green tests twice. They and the K&B mock exams (on the book's CD) were very similar in difficulty. I spent a few days with the JavaCertificate.com questions, where I found they seemed to introduce some new material or at least some new angles. I was burning out the last 2 weeks of studying so I knew I had to get to the exam quick! I did all the Dan C exams a 3rd time inside of a week and averaged 92% so I felt ready to do the exam. If I had it to do over again, I would have been working on all the mock exams from day one. Mix up the styles so I never got used to one over another. My background is in mainframe software support and development in a proprietary language so Java was pretty foreign to me when I started in on it a year and a half ago. I'm kinda flying on a wing and a prayer. My next step is either SCWCD or SCBCD. Any thoughts? Thanks you!

Hey Jeff, Congrats buddy. I guess SCBCD would be better. It talks about JSP and Servlets, which are so popular these days. I am giving my SCJP on 11th. After that i want to resume the preparation for SCBCD. All the best
