hi all,

am glad to announce that i passed SCJP 1.4 today with 100%.

I have been visiting the forum and it has greatly helped me. i will surely help others in the forum from now on that i am confident.

Frankly , i felt the exam was easy , little tricky with the wording in the answer choices. you just have to spend some time with each question and do not do the exam in a hurry. even if the question looks familiar do not jump to the answer , there is a trap somewhere, just make sure by evaluating each line of the code. also , u have to be good with threads coz they ( test makers ) are really gr8 in confusing you.

As for my preparation.......

K & B is the best . that is the only book i studied. also Dan's site has an exhaustive compilation of topic wise exercises that greatly helped me.
Ofcourse, Corey's blogs also explain micro details that we need to keep in mind. practice is the key. you have to do as many tests as you can to be confident.

i thank all you guys at javaranch for ur magnificent work... keep it up!!!

I would also try and answer any queries that I might be knowing in the forums..

time to party nowwwwww!!!

Congratulations Satya!

I am also studying for the SCJP.
I have been studying K&B's book as well as using the Deitel book and this site for deatils.
How many shift (>>, <<, >>> questions were on your exam)?

What do you think you will do now?

thanks for the accolades guys....

There were 5-6 Q's on threads, 2 were really tricky, just have to think twice before answering. I had 1 shift operation Q . but frankly the questions r selected from a pool of questions so u cannot be sure how many u get each time.

I plan to give SCWCD too in the near future...

take it easy guys...

Certainly not. I was much older when I started preparing for SCJP. This is just one of the technologies. But if we have to stay in IT for 35-40 years, we have to unlearn old and learn new technologies every few years. If at any time we feel too old to learn new technologies, I trust it is time for us to change industry - but then that also requires learning lots of new things. Hence just accept the inevitable and stay prepared to learn new things all your working life. To be comfortable in Java tecnologies, you need to learn J2EE, some in-depth knowledge of databases, XML technologies - each one of them is kind of an ocean in itself.

Please tell me that how much time would it take to completely prepare for the exam

I was new to GUI, new to object oriented technologies and only had some C background. It took me about 6 months. To quote from ads Individual results may vary

Best wishes
