Dude! I just started using this site and I just saw a post from Dan Chisholm! I didn't know that was a real person! I figured it was just some guy who got paid to sit in a cube somewhere and write a million SCJP review questions, maybe with a can of surge dangling from a stick in front of him, who then never wanted to hear from anyone on any SCJP questions ever again. Wow! I'm amazed he is a real person who participates in forums. If I had written that many questions I don't think I would ever want to think about Java ever again. Although, I read that many questions yet here I am. So maybe that's crazy.
I just took the SCJP on 8/30 and I studied using the topical exam questions here (http://www.danchisholm.net/july21/topic/index.html). I was in between projects at work and thought it would be funny if I got certified having never really written any Java so, on my friend Robin's advice, I read the exams and tried taking them. Of course that didn't work but I read the answers, which got me ridiculously well acquainted with the inner workings of Java compilers.
After a while I got eye strain from the crappy refresh rate on my monitor so I started printing them out. Did you know that that takes over a ream of paper?!
Once I had gone through _all_ those questions I got some book and read through it somewhat then took a few mock exams from the cd it came with and scheduled a test. I passed! I didn't pass as well as I would have liked, but passing is passing. I bet I will get smarter as I work on actually writing code for the next cert. I am hooked now. Thanks for the material, real person Dan Chisholm!
