I remember when I passed the SCJP exam, all I could think of was getting home so I could tell everybody on the ranch. Ah, good times! Well, I did part I of SCEA today -- fun stuff. If anybody gets to go take a test in Towson, MD's Prometric center, it is spifffy.

Congratulations Nathaniel.
What book did you use for preparation?

I read:
  • Sun Certified Enterprise Architect for J2EE Study Guide
  • Sun Certified Enterprise Architect for J2EE Technology Study Guide
  • Both are good reading. I actually read the second book in its entirety the same day I took the exam, which was a good review. It missed a few topics entirely though (like messaging). But still very good. The first book was good too, but wordy. I figure at some point, you don't need to keep telling the world that HTTP is stateless, etc, and just get to the point.

Hi Nathaniel, first of all, congrats on passing part 1. But as to the comment about Towson, MD's Prometric Center, I completely disagree. I had the worst experience and treatment there, when I took the SCWCD 1.3 examination.

I simply requested ten-fifteen minutes break before beginning the test, because I arrived agitated due to the rain and almost a car accident. I arived 5 minutes early but I just wanted to calm down and collected myself. But no, the test representative threatend me to cancel the test even when the test room was almost empty. They continue with their threats for the next 5 minutes.

So, you see there is a person there that is not happy and vents their frustration on students. Also, I did have a great experience the first time around but the second visit, it was awfull.
