Hi all,
I cleared SCJP 1.4 (96%) on Dec 31, 2004. I go along with most of the points that swapnil mentioned about the exam in today's post. The only thing that i would like to point out is that the exam clock did not start during the survey that he mentioned. It only started after the survey. But the timer started ticking while the instructions for taking the exam appeared(general instructions before the first question appears). It could take about 3-5 mins of your exam time if u choose to read them.

The questions that appeared for my exam were not too complex, but definitely tougher than the ones listed as mock exams on the net (which includes Marcus Green's Mock 1,2 and 3). Solving DanChisholm's comprehensive test set should help stand a great chance to get 90+% in the exam.

I used K&B book and any of the freely available mocks from the net. I spent about a month's time preparing for the exam.

Thanks to all in the forum, who have helped me achieve this.

Regds,
Archana Babu. :

Hi,

Congratulations!!!. A very good score. Hey even I am planning to give the exam. I am new to Java but not new to programming. I prepared java from a book called java for beginners by Murach. Now I started to prepare for certification and I am usinf the book A programmer's guide to Java Certification by Mugal and Ramussen.

Please advice more on how to aprroach the exam and any other books to follow, as I dont have enough knowledge in Java.

Bye.
