Is Whizlabs legit?

I purchased their SCBCD product last Thursday with a credit card, and I have had no luck activating the executable provided.

support@whizlabs.com replied once with a request for information, and after providing that information I haven't heard from them in the last 4 days.

thanks,

Todd

For those who don't know Whizlabs, it is supposed to be a provider of mock exams to help prep for certifications.

They have a Unique Customer File (UCF) that is retrieved automatically during installation of their mock exam products. If the automatic retrieval fails, they do provide a manual process for retrieving the file.

For me, the automatic process failed, and the manual process also failed because of broken links on their website.

I also tried their online chat function...

Lastly, they seem to have disabled their forums!

Overall, not a comforting indication of their current fiscal state and/or ability to support their products.

I've used their products in the past. They are a legit company - sometimes not the greatest on customer support, but they are legit. (They've sponsored some of the book promotions here over the time I've been involved in the Saloon.)

Drop them another email and nudge them until they respond - it takes a while sometimes, but I've found that they do indeed eventually get everything fixed and working.

Thanks for the ray of hope.

Their login functionality and online version of the exam simulators as detailed in the confirmation e-mail as sent to me by regsoft is also gone from their web site.

There are a bunch of links on their Site Map that are giving me 404 errors.

Maybe I picked the week they chose to go out of business...

I called whizlab's billing company and regsoft said they'll refund my money within two business days if whizlabs doesn't respond.

I even have an e-mail to that effect, which is great. Props to regsoft!

I won the WhizLabs SCJP course here at JavaRanch but they never delivered even after emailing me that they would come through. I wonder if they have an instructor shortage or are otherwise overcommitted.

If you make a timely written complaint to your credit card provider, you are entitled a refund. But that doesn't get you the training.
