Hi,am a fresher,,awaiting for results which are due in a months time,,so am planning to five the SCJP1.4 by 30th aug,,can u tell me if this cert is beneficial for us freshers??coz most of the people here are experienced people??

Surely there are benefits. It will be an added advantage for u when u r joining an organization. In big companies, they will put you in any available projects without considering your skillset. But if u have certification, u can demand for a java based project. That will make java as ur career. It will also help in getting placed in a company.
