SCJP 1.4(77%) in one month

Dear Fellow Ranchers,

I am happy to tell you guys that I got certified as a SCJP with 77% score on Saturday 10th September,2005.

.I wrote the 1.4 exam. I lost points on Threads and Garbage Collection.

I read K&B book and Khalid Mughal. Kathy and Bert have done a great job with that book. Thanks to the guys who run Java Ranch because without this group I will not know half of the things I know now about Java.

A word for SCJP aspirants- Read the K&B book and do so many mocks. You will get more tips and tricks by doing mock exams than reading a book many times. Reach the venue before the exam time (I did that mistake. NIIT Pune office had shifted and I was not aware of it. Anyway I started one hour before the exam so I could manage to reach the center in time.). Be cool, take a deep breath and start writing the exam because it is not very tough but just tricky

I don�t want to start a debate whether you can write the exam in one month. Because I don�t know exactly what you should do to write the exam in one month. I was completely concentrating on Java this one month for this exam. And maybe, who knows, I just got lucky.

Anyway I am not very happy about the score because I feel I could have done better if I worked for more time.

Sun Certified Programmer & Developer for Java 2 Study Guide By Kathy Sierra and Bert Bates is the best book and the easiest for SCJP certification.

As swapna said K&B book is very good. Also have a look at SCJP forum frequently to get a great score. But for that you need to have a valid display name here in ranch. Java ranch has a naming policy please stick on to it..
