Any exam you can walk away from with a pass, right?
This was taken, actually, almost entirely on a lark - my company doesn't do much in the Java ME space at all, and we're trying to come up with interesting new things that we could be doing. To that end, I figured that, hey, since we started doing web services after I passed the SCDJWS exam...
And the breakdown:
So my weakness is the UI. I knew that going in and figured that if I at least broke even on it, then I'd be fine. Likewise, I knew that I knew RMS fairly well from working on a MIDlet for the FIRST Robotics team I mentor.
The biggest thing that I think annoyed me was that much of what I had thought was going to be asked - questions like in the WhizLabs app - really weren't asked. There were a few nit-picky questions, but they actually tended towards some of the odder and more situational questions rather than the nitty-gritty of the language. I didn't get a single question on how Java ME differs from Java SE, and only a few drag-and-drops... so all in all.
It took me a little more than an hour to do the test, all told - 40 minutes for the first run through (if only because I forced myself to keep moving on questions), followed by 20 minutes for the first two runs past the questions I'd been iffy on, and then one last complete end-to-end runthrough to make sure that nothing was jumping out at me.
And, yet again, I cannot stress strongly enough - read every question. Some actually are good clues to others you might not be sure on...
