Passed with 90% in SCJP 5.0. I referred to just one book: the scjp 5.0 study guide by kathy and bert. Thanks alot to both of you. I could not find a single question related to a concept you might have skipped in the book.
It took me 2 weeks to go through the 800 pages of the guide. Then another week to prepare my notes. I first copy pasted the 2 minute drill matter from the book then for those concepts which i thought i will need to revisit i highlighted them in bold font. Wherever applicable, i copy pasted some example to make things clear and also put my small java codes in the notes. I also copy pasted those self test questions+answers which i thought i will want to revise again. I had everything captured in 85 pages in my notes. I used my notes for one final revision a day before the exam. I did not get time to do much mock exams but i did one JMMock exam the link to which i found on javaranch (SCJP FAQ i think). This was good collection of questions related to concepts on which there were questions in the real exam. Apart from this, i did not get time to take even the mock exams that came on the study guide CD but i think i did the self test twice and it helped me alot.
In my opinion, its not really necessary that one does too many mock exams but what is more important is to remember the concepts which can be tested and to this end the self test examples were great resource (as doing those twice helped me alot).
