At last i am done with this elementary certification .

For those ahead the exam, i can share my experience regarding preparation:

1. I used K&B 1.5 book ,IMHO the best book for this certification! I would be reluctant to using Complete Java 2 Certification: Study Guide by
Fifth Edition, Philip Heller, Simon Roberts for preparation. I have seen some content of it having many mistakes in chapter exams as well as not taking into account some of principles required for SCJP 5.0

2. Traing with Whizlabs SCJP 5.0

3. Code..code..code .... Write many sample programs on every principle You are currently learning

4. If you are scoring around 80% in K&B chapter exams and Whizlabs mock exams (at final exam i got 91%), You are certainly ready!!!

Good luck!!!

I would like to thank javarach.com for significant help during preparation period , thanks a lot!

Congratulations!, Great Score. Is Wizlabs tests a must?. How about K&B master exams, self tests when compared to the real exam? Pls advice.

Whizlabs gives You very good impression on what You can expect on real exam (however, some bits of material presented in Whizlabs are out of SCJP 5.0 scope. appendReplacement/appendTail Matcher methods for example). Whizlabs test engine is better in my opinion that one used during the real exam (famous issue with drag and drop questions). I think it is worth buying.

K&B master exams are also very good. By not providing number of correct answers they toughen You up (same with chapter review questions, great idea Bert!!!). One thing to note - K&B master exams they miss quite important experience present during real exam - drag and drop questions. This is where Whizlabs fills the gap.I got around 20 drag and drop questions on real exam. You will feel more confortable during exam after exercises with DND questions in simulator.

Once again, Kathy, Bert, thank You for excellent book!

do you think a 60% in k&b mock test is worthy enough for taking the test to score above 80%.
