I have read K & B for my primary preparation of SCJP. This book is more than sufficient from the exam point of view. I have 3+ years of Java(1.4) experience. For SCJP I have prepared for 2 months. I have appeared for lots of free online test available on the net. Resources I found particularly very useful are 1) K&B book 2) Khalid Mughal book for detailed study for some topics 3) Ajith Kalambella's common trips and traps available on www.javaranch.com (do revise it before going to exam) 4)http://www.xyzws.com/scjp.do?cat=scjp 5)http://www.danchisholm.net/oct1/mybook/index.html 6)Study notes at http://www.geocities.com/velmurugan_p/ 7) And lots and lots of material available on Javaranch and other forums.
List of mock exams I have tried 1) K&B book exam and bonus exam 2) Ucertify mock exam 3) Java Inquisition application 4) Certgear exam engine 5) Whizlabs exam simulator 6) Epractice labs 7) John Meyer's mock test. Could not find time for full test. but tried the questions on generics
I have created memory cards while reading the K&B book. Also, used highlighter to hightlight important points in the first reading itself.
One suggestion for authors of K&B book(Kathy and Bert). The Generics section of the book should be a little more elaborate. The number of mock questions related to generics should be more. This is the one section I was not at all comfortable after reading the book twice and after giving so many mock tests. Probably this section could be re-written with more and different examples. Apart from this, the book is really superb. Thanks for that. Cheers, Paras
