This week's book giveaway is in the OO, Patterns, UML and Refactoring forum. We're giving away four copies of Refactoring for Software Design Smells: Managing Technical Debt and have Girish Suryanarayana, Ganesh Samarthyam & Tushar Sharma on-line! See this thread for details.
Cleared SCWCD yesterday with 92% Many thanks to advice gleaned from this forum!
Quick note about my preparation in case it helps anyone: 1. Total prep time: 10 days 2. Books: HFSJ 3. Reference: Servlet Spec, JSP Spec
Basically, I relied mostly on HFSJ, read it twice and made my own notes about the topics I found hard to remember the first time. Beware though: HFSJ has several mistakes (not just typos). I would recommend anyone starting out to first fix the mistakes by going thru the errata list for the book available online.
I did not really read Servlet Spec or JSP Spec but used them as reference to quickly look up specific topics (<%@ variable, implicit attributes for error handling and request dispatching etc.)
Sorry about the mistakes, we hope to do an "errata fix" in the next couple of months.
Bert, Thanks... and Thanks! (Both, for the book and the congratulations I should also mention that this was the first time I have tried a "Head First" book and I found it easy to read yet well focussed on the exam objectives. Kudos to all the "perpetrators"
Did you work on JSP, Servlets before you started preparing for this exam?
Yes, Atul. I have been working with JSP/Servlets for over 6 years now. [ March 30, 2007: Message edited by: Amol Deshmukh ]
