I am really grateful to the following sites which have such a great collection of study notes ,question-answers, discussion forum and mock exams :-
http://www.javaranch.com http://www.jchq.net/ Dan Chisholm
test suite
http://www.danchisholm.net/dec20/topic/index.html www.javaprepare.com www.jdiscuss.com An ever increasing list of yahoogroups related to
java certification.
I salute to all of you who have taken the pain of contributing and making those excellent sites to help people like us.
Also I want to mention the name of the book "Java Certification Book By kathy Sierra and Bert Bates "
which I used as the main book for my preparation.
That book and its exercises were just excellent. Thanks Kathy and Bert Bates............
I want to say a few words to those who want to appear for SCJP1.4 (though I am not sure with that percentage whether I am worthy or not!)
which may increase your percentage,
1) Read questions very carefully and don't jump on answers, I myself made few stupid mistakes which I later realized that could have added to my percentage.
2) Before going into the logic of the program please scan the question for syntactical error first, It may happen that you are spending your energy and valuable 5-6 minutes after a overriding question without realizing it will surely produce a compile time error as base class was declared as private or protected!!
3) Try to give as much mock exams as possible but don't think you will be getting 90% everytime! So if you score 75 - 80 % in average consider urself prepared for the exam.
4) And most important of all is to try and memorize(!) some methods , their signature , return type etc.Definitely you will be having questions in exam which may call stringbuffer methods using
string objects, tries to assign the result of a ceil/floor operation to an int or calls different versions of
thread constructors.I took this syntactic part of Java too lightly, hope you will not repeat the same mistake again!
BEST OF LUCK FOR AN EXCELLENT SCPJ SCORE!
Thanks and Regards,
Anurag SCJP 1.4 (91%)
