Hi..

Thanks a lot to you all ranchers.
Today, I cleared my SCWCD with 95% .
Just two months back, I cleared my SCJP with 96% .

Being frank, I never thought, I would ever accomplish this.
As I am from a Mechanical background. And has been interested in Java just because of interest.
Actually did a small stuff of my final year Project, last year only in java(AWT and Swing). Since then have been a great fan of it. What I liked most about it is its reusability and there is no "reinventing of wheel". You don't have to develop anything from scratch.

A special thanks to Kathy for her wonderful book. Actually after having a look on her HFJS, I thought of giving this exam. I got that book from one of my friend and was reading that just because of interest. But felt at one point, I should go for this exam too. Thanks Kathy.

Thanks to all bartenders and sheriffs Bert Bates, Christophe Verre, Marc Peabody(I got 100% in Design Patterns), Ulf Dittmer.. Thank you all.

And thanks Marcus Green for your notes and Summary Quizes.

And about my exam, I lost marks in Structure and Deployment of Web Application (75%). Actually got some elements of web.xml pertaining to resources and EJB about which I wasn't prepared as I wasn't expecting them.

Once again Thanks to all of you. And Hope your support will continue like this in future. And I will see some more good books from Kathy. Most probably on SCDJWS.

Regards,
Khushhal

Hi Kushal,

Congratulations. Great Score!!

How was custom tags part? Did you read the spec?
Can you be specific about the resource tag which you mentioned?
So looks like i have to prepare for ejb part of web.xml.

Thanks for your reply.

Hi..

Thanks a lot everyone.

But please don't negelect these things.

(knowledge of these elements not required for the exam)
<env-entry>
<ejb-ref>
<ejb-local-ref>
<service-ref>
<resource-ref>
<resource-env-ref>
<message-destination-ref>
<locale-encoding-mapping-list>

These were in the exam.
In three questions, these elements appeared.
And that cost me too much.

Prepare well and Best of Luck for your exams.

And

How was custom tags part? Did you read the spec?

Yes I read specs:
jsp-2_0-fr-spec servlet-2_4-fr-spec
jstl_1_1_mr2_spec

But as per Objectives.

Other than these. I studied HFJS by Kathy Sierra. That's a really nice book.

And did some moke tests.
I think these are enough. Test was very simple. But was not confined to objectives that's what I felt
Custom tags was Ok. I got three questions on it. But simple one. Was just checking the bsic knowledges.

But I got unexpectedly most of the question on Security and about elements of web.xml.

On design patterns their were six questions. But were simple.

And yes I practice my codes. Actually I was implementing everything whatever I was studying in my own created small small applications. Because that's the purpose I was learning these things.And what I liked most was the implementation of Listeners and Security. I really liked that part. If possible please practice on sesion management, tags(JSTL, custom, tagfiles, tlds) and EL. You can have a lot of fun with them and will really enjoy them.

And please give exam only when you will feel comfortable with them. And don't neglect web.xml in any case, not even a single element. You will score well. I can assure you. Hoping to listen someone touching that magic number.

Best of luck to you all. Preapare well and score well.
If any doubt. Please mail to me at beyond_thedreams@yahoo.com. I will be very pleased, if I would be of any help to you.

Hi khushhal

Congratulations for passing with such a wonderful score. I am also preparing for SCBCD and I don't have any back ground knowledge in this area as I am working in C Language. You have really achieved a wonderful score and you are truly a source of inspiration for many of us. Good Luck for future certifications.
