I'm going to a pub today

(Edited for books and tips)

- Did you use Core J2EE Patterns for SCEA (Part 1)?

No - in part one there are only design patterns from GOF book.
Please check 'Sun Cerfitied Enterprise Architect for J2EE, M.Cade and S.Roberts' - there is nice chapter with explanation of all required patterns.

- I think that this book is useful for SCEA (Part 2). Am i correct?

That I don't know. I don't have assigement yet - I will update thread afterwards. Nevertheless, this book provides not only uml, but descriptions and example implementations and I generally like authors style.

- Any tips for exam preparation for SCEA (Part 1)?

There is a lot of questions about CORBA itself - I was working with CORBA before, but still several questions suprised me.

I guess it all depends of questions you get - I had a lot of what-will-you-do-in-this-case? questions.
Sometimes, there is quite strange logic after an answer. Please study this document few times:
http://www.geocities.com/subra_73/SCEA_Practice_Questions.htm and hopefuly you get it.

And the last one:
- Hopefully one day I'll be qualified to take the EA certification exam as well.
Do it as soon as you can.
I believe it can be a booster for your career, but you will also learn much by preparation.
I did learn a lot and also the stuff I knew before had been persisted better

Congratulations!

The other parts of the SCEA architect exam will fall right into place, I'm sure.

Thanks!

I've SCJP done some time ago, but I've worked with java for quite a time.
I think the hardest thing is done

Books:
- Core J2EE Patterns, Best Practices and Design Strategies, D. Alur, J. Crupi and D. Malks <-- that's my best! Always near me at work
- Sun Cerfitied Enterprise Architect for J2EE, M.Cade and S.Roberts <-- I bought for learning to exam, quite useful
- there is also perfect document with question:
http://www.geocities.com/subra_73/SCEA_Practice_Questions.htm

Mosts of the knowledge I've taken from experience (4+ years live experience in designing and implementing J2EE and 2+ years in requirements gathering and system analysys)

Nevertheless, questions scared me at first
I think you have to have at least two or three projects designed and implemented before taking this certification.

Very well done, Leszek! All the best with the remainder of the certification requirements. Hopefully one day I'll be qualified to take the EA certification exam as well.
