This week's book giveaway is in the OO, Patterns, UML and Refactoring forum. We're giving away four copies of Refactoring for Software Design Smells: Managing Technical Debt and have Girish Suryanarayana, Ganesh Samarthyam & Tushar Sharma on-line! See this thread for details.
I passed SCJP 6 with 88%. I am so glad I went in for the 6 instead of the 5 exam. Only 1 question (on Console) was from the new topics.
Anyone know how long it takes for the certificate to arrive in the mail ? Or to show up on the web-site they have on the printed results ?
There were a couple of other test takers with me and they mentioned something about a T-shirt being sent by Sun to all people who get certified this month. They didn't ask for my shirt size during the exam

I was a JAVA beginner last year. I started off with the Head First Java book. Then moved on to the K&B book. In the last 1 month, I did about 4-5 passes of K&B and took lots of mock exams (mostly from links posted around here or using Google). I also took a mock exam from the the CD of the K&B book (MasterExam). Finally, I did the exercises from the K&B book over and over again. On the last day, I just brushed over the 2 minute drill from K&B. If you face difficulty with Collections and Generics, I'd highly recommend Chapter 16 from Head First Java. That simplified things in that area for me.
I’ve looked at a lot of different solutions, and in my humble opinion Aspose is the way to go. Here’s the link: http://aspose.com
