I have cleared SCJP 5.0 on April 11th . I am a silent member of JavaRanch. It took 25 days to prepare for the Exam. I had revised the Kathy Sierra book twice and gone through all the mock exams provided by JavaBeat here : http://www.javabeat.net/products/cert/scjp-1-5.php. The questions provided by javabeat is very helpful and i got many questions in the same pattern. before practice any mock questions I advise you to read Kathy's book at least once.

thanks,
priyanka

Thank you Ahmed.
I have been working in Java for about an year , so I was confident in all the concepts and the real preparation took about 25 days, go through the Kathy & Sierra book completely and once you are confident in all the concepts , then you have to solve a lot of mock questions .All the best for your preparation

Hi Priyanka,
As you said that it took just 25 days for you to prepare for the exam .i was curious to know if you have been working on java that is hands on , or was it the general knowledge that you had , with which you prepared for the test?

Thnks,
Piya

"piya",

There aren't many rules that you need to worry about here on the Ranch, but one that we take very seriously regards the use of proper names. Please take a look at the JavaRanch Naming Policy and adjust your display name to match it.

In particular, your display name must be a first and a last name separated by a space character, and must not be obviously fictitious.

Thanks!

"piya" that is my name. Why is such an issue made out of it.Can't i use my own name as my display name or do i need to prove now that piya is my name. What is this name bear anyways? kindly focus on the topics rather than worrying about people's display names, it would be more benefitting.

Thankyou.

You needed only 25 days to prepare for the exam. Hmmm, great!!
It has been a month, and I am still struggling.
