Hi,

I was too carefull to validate my answers that I ran out of time. When time was up, I had almost 20 question unaswered, and I socred 58% ( I got 42 correct answers), but this won't discourage me at all (I trust the quotation of Nelson Mandela in the bottom of this message). So when will I be eligible to retake it ? (1 or 2 weeks)

1st, I have to congrats you because if you left 20 behind and still did this score, was not bad at all.

2nd, nice spirit, I'm glad to see ya like this.

3rd, it's 2 weeks so you can do again.

Sugestion: In these 2 weeks do a lot of mocks day by day so you can do the questions faster ;-)

If you got 42 questions correct and failed to answer 20, you will kill it next time. Just remember to trust yourself and drive forward and get them all answered. You can always come back and review your answers (Careful on the drag and drop as it deletes your original answer when you check it). Don't get tied up into getting the highest score and focus on passing.

After skipping 20 questions, if you scored 58%, then if you would have attempted all, you would have scored good. All the best for next time.

Thanks to you all guys for you support.

I've already rescheduled the test in 2 weeks. As we say in french : "tant qu'il y a vie, y a espoir" ie "As long as we're alive, there is hope"
I'll rest for 2 days before going again through the K&B books.

If you realize that every failure can be a success
you will be fine. Keep the chin up and you will breeze it next
time. I wish you the best for your next attempt.
Best regards

I think you should read all the questions before starting the exam and mark those that are easier for you. Then try to answer them first(for example, drag and drop questions are easy) and leave the most difficult questions for later.

That's the way I answer the questions: If you try to answer one difficult question, you can waste a lot of time, you get nervous, etc ...

Good luck!! I'm sure you will pass the exam

One more thing: in my last post, the strategy I described is based on advices taken from the book "SCJP study guide by Bert Bates and Kathy Sierra".
I don't know if I'm allowed to put that because it's taken directly from the Introduction the chapter of book.
They say: "A good strategy for taking the exam is to go through once and answer all the questions that come to you quickly. You can then go back and do the others. Answering one question might jog your memory for how to answer a previous one."

You should read this chapter: I think there are useful advices for taking the exam.

just visit the mock tests page in this website. solve the ones marked as scjp1.5 at least twice rather than reading the book again. also try to do the assessment test on sun's website.
i think this time you will pass with a really good grade.
good luck

Thank God I followed this strategy without reading this in K&B . In my Exam in was also running out of time and had left only 1 hr. for 40 question. Then i was like jumping over the question which i did not undertand in first 10 seconds. and in the end i was left around 10 questions. but luckily i got 49 corrects out 60 attempted.
Next time i will make it sure that not to leave introduction chapter.

Mamdou All the very very best. My personal suggestion for you is don't tied up in big score but get good concepts. My boss knows that i am not bad in java so he never minded when i got only 45% score in Java fundamental section.

Try to make one pass to all the question in the exam just answering the ones you are completly sure then mark the tricky ones and check them when you finish the first round that would help you a lot.

Failure gives us strength. Without knowing what sorrow is how can you enjoy happiness.
Sachin Tendulker started with 0 beside his name, Rahul Dravid started with <10 (or <5) for first few innings; and mind it, some(may be Vikram) Rathod, entered in with Dravid, scored few 50s; can you recall, certainly, his name. And do you know Sourav Ganguly was dropped for few years after his first appearence.

My all the good wishes to you
