I am feeling very happy to say that i cleared my SCJP 6 exam a day before yesterday with 83%. I was a bit lazy to post the result out here but could not go away without appreciating the help that i have received from this forum and its members.
Facts... Time Taken: 5-6 weeks [3-4 weeks are sufficient for a dedicated study] Study Material: K&B 5[at a later stage i realized that there is little difference between SCJP 5 & 6 so i decided to go for SCJP 6] Its a very good book but i somehow expected it to make me familiar with many more pitfalls which the mock exams did. I did not like the Generics part of it at all. I had to refer white papers to understand it. Overall i did read the book once & revised it twice before the exam. Mock Tests: Whizlabs 6 & JQ+ I would 100% recommend you to go for Whizlabs 6 because the test level of whiz & real is comparable with atleast 5-7% increment in the real exam over whiz. JQ+ is also good but since i used an older version i wont be able to comment. Oh yes i forgot to mention John Meyers Test(new name Deepak i guess) also helped a lot. Things that aided my study: Javaranch forum!! i was fool to realise it late! I appreciate everyones efforts moderators, greehorns for getting good questions & ranchers for solving them. But i am still looking for an answer to thispost Moral i learnt: i used to fail in the mock (3times); i wasn't able to score good, so i was bored and took a gap of a week. Never tae a gap, you forget many vital points that you have learnt.
//Edited questions on new topic: i dont remember but should be around 5-6 on console & navigable topics Advice: I did refer a lot to the APIs. I find many questions are related to APIs. Secondly, practice creating programs like modifying a mock question to understand what the output will be. [ August 10, 2008: Message edited by: Milan Sutaria ]
