Hi!
I'm also planning to do the Test 157.
Are you studing hard?
I downloaded 5 PDFs from IBM site and begun to read them.
What do you know about this exam? Is it very difficult? How long does it require for preparation?
Let's exchange some experiences about that!
Thanks!

hi.
it is very useful to work through the sample test at ICE. The test and the questions are close to the real test. also helpful is to check the online-help in combination with the redbooks.
there is also a previous post for 157 that helps.
grz.

I took the test today, and let me tell you something: It has nothing to do with the sample test !
I had much better results at the ICE test, than the real exam, so I changed my mind about posting here my answer to questions of the sections for witch I made 100%. It wont help you.
How I prepare ?
- A short 4 days introductory course.
- 3 months of experience with the product
- I read two Redbooks, and trying the examples with witch I was not familiar.
- WebSphere Studio Application Developer and Web Services
- WebSphere Studio Application Developer Programming Guide
- I read the help documentation under tasks from By type view.
The benefit of preparing this certification is that I was forced to work some areas of the tool that I was not used to, and that I think I will those use in future projects. Still I found some question of the real test silly, and I think I dont need to know the answer to those one in order to work efficiently with WSAD. In my opinion the whole point to prepare and take an IT certification, is to sharpen yours skills and to get you new ones, thats what makes to worth the effort. So for this one, you will better have a god memory. Good luck everybody !

Hi Victor,
Congratulation!!
How do u compare IBM157 with SCJP? Which is harder? Since the passing mark is 56%, is it that difficult to clear it?
Thanks.

Hi!
SCJP is of course more difficult, but I enjoyed preparing and passing SCJP!
Here are the main differences in my opinion:
1 ) SCJP is focus on understanding concepts and internal behavior of java, and test 157 is focused on memorizing menus, actions, settings, views, perspectives and less on the comprehension of the product. Preparing for SCJP will sharpen your skills as java programmer, preparing for test 157 will make acquire some knowledge of the product, much more you will learn from experience.
2) SCJP objectives of are precise and concise. Test 157 objectives are very general, so you can expect to be asked questions about any combination of menu/view/perspective related to the objective.
3)You can find very good books to walk through the SCJP certification. You are on your own in preparing for test 157. Of course there are Redbooks, and online- help, but no specific guidance to prepare for the 157 test.
4) You can get mock exams on the net as closely as possible to the real test, and the score you obtain on those wont differ very much from the real test. The single mock exam that you will be able to find on test 157 is the ICE test with an unchanged set of 58 questions witch is to different from the real test, and the score that I obtained to the Ice test is not even close to the real test.
I hope that my post will help you. Good luck !
